BODNANT FRUIT SCONES

Our fruit scones are definitely one of our best sellers. An easy scone recipe that makes for a delicious afternoon snack with jam, clotted cream and a cup of tea!


 

INGREDIENTS


475g strong white flour

225g caster sugar

225g margarine

40g baking powder

45g buttermilk powder

450ml water

250g sultanas


METHOD


  1. Preheat your oven to 210°C and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.

  2. Place all dry ingredients and the margarine into a a large mixing bowl and mix well.

  3. Gradually add the water and mix until a dough is formed. If it seems a little too wet then slowly add more flour.

  4. Tip the mixture onto a floured surface and roll out until it's about 2.5cm/1inch thick.

  5. Using a pastry cutter, cut out rounds and place them onto your baking tray.

  6. Brush an even layer of milk on top of the scones before baking them in the middle of the oven for around 15 minutes (until they're risen and golden brown).

  7. Leave scones to cool and serve with jam and clotted cream!
