FEEDING YOUR GUT

Our weekly wellness collaboration with The Collective Wellness, an evidence-based holistic wellbeing resource, focuses on your gut health and how to improve it!

Feeding your gut...

Gut health has become a big topic of late: it is thought that there is approximately 200g of bacteria in and on us at any time and the greatest amount is within our gut. Therefore, any changes in our gut can have a widespread effect on our overall health, including aiding the digestion and absorption of food and nutrients, vitamin production, and supporting our immunity.

One of the most important ways to support your gut health, is to eat a balanced diet with as much diversity as possible. Adding a variety of vegetables, legumes, beans and fruit, high in fibre is associated with an increase in the diversity of gut bacteria and supporting your overall health. Fibre can ‘feed’ the bacteria in your gut and help your microbiome thrive!

Tips for improving gut health

  • Eating a balanced diet

  • Fibre

  • Fermented foods
