Tearoom Assistant

Full-time, Permanent
Housed in what once was the stable building of Furnace Farm, the 18th century buildings have been lovingly restored to form the Furnace Tearoom; set against a spectacular backdrop of Conwy Estuary, our tearoom offers perfect countryside escapism.

Home Cooked and Freshly Prepared Meals
Open daily throughout the year, the Furnace Tearoom offers an appetising selection of traditional homemade cakes and breads, baked onsite in our bakery each morning. Still warm from the griddle, our Welsh Cakes are often made using the dairy’s homemade buttermilk; and our tasty bara-brith is created following an authentic farm house recipe.

Our Furnace Tearoom is a busy place open 7 days a week from 9.30 am serving fresh cooked to order breakfasts, light lunches, tea, coffee, cakes and Afternoon Tea.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To maintain exceptional customer service, customer relations and strive for repeat business.
Take food and drink orders at the counter politely and efficiently.
Responsible for basic food and drink preparation including ensuring customer tables, cutlery and condiments are laid up, also cakes, drinks and desserts. Ensure excellent presentation of cakes, adhere to ‘use by’s’ & make sure waste is minimised.
Delivering food to customer tables, providing a high standard of waitress service when required, clearing tables and Kitchen Porter work.
Taking payments smoothly and quickly.
Maintain a clean environment and ensure compliance with all Health and Hygiene regulations.
Clear down at the end of the day.
Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep The Furnace Tearoom operating at a high standard and set a positive example for fellow employees.
Appear approachable, dress smartly and have excellent personal presentation skills
Responsible, hardworking and able to work cheerfully under pressure.
Have excellent communication skills and be prepared to develop strong customer service skills.
Must be able to work in a team or during quiet parts of the day work. individually and be responsible for preparation, serving, taking money and washing up.
Have the ability to work to deadlines.
Must maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
40hrs a week, we are open 7 days a week and bustiest on weekends, bank holiday and school holidays so you will be expected to work 5 days a week during these times.

Full Time Farmshop and Deli Assistant

As Wales’ centre of excellence for food and drink, Bodnant’s farm shop prides itself on showcasing the finest Welsh foods and drink sourced from the surrounding Bodnant Estate, in-house, and from award-winning suppliers across Wales; stocking around three quarters of purely Welsh food and drink.
The shop features its own in-house Bodnant Bakery, butchers, and delicatessen; featuring fresh artisan breads, homemade cakes, award-winning pies, and quality meats, as well as Bodnant’s multi-award-winning range of Welsh cheeses, handmade in our on-site dairy.

We are currently looking for a professional, enthusiastic individual with proven food retail skills.
The above position is required for our Award Winning Farm Shop and Delicatessen.
The role will require you to be customer focused, friendly and approachable.
Great communication skills and motivation are also required with the ability to work under pressure at all times.
Your days of work will include working 5 days (37.5 hours) and you must be able to work weekends.

Part–time Telephone Receptionist – Saturday Mornings Only

4hrs per week

We are currently looking to recruit a part- time telephone receptionist to join the team at the Bodnant Welsh Food centre. Hours of work would be Saturday morning 9am – 1pm.

The duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Answering all calls in a timely manner
  • Processing all telephone and online bookings
  • Taking messages as required and providing these efficiently to colleagues
  • Updating customer loyalty program database
  • General administrative duties including filing, photocopying etc
  • Any adhoc duties as required.

Candidates that would like to apply must have;

  • Experience working in busy office
  • Good knowledge of word
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A pleasant and professional telephone manner
  • Ability to speak Welsh desirable but not essential
